How to read the Bible in one year

Join us in reading through the Bible this year! The goal isn't perfection; it's having one meaningful encounter with God's Word every day in order to hear God's voice in the pages of Scripture. Follow these principles to get the most out of your reading journey:

Make a PLAN: What will you read? Where will you read? When will you read? We need to "count the cost" and pack for the journey ahead. Using a plan like the one-year Bible reading plan above helps us to engage with the whole counsel of God.

 

Start with PRAYER: Invite God to speak to your heart as you read. The Psalmist prayed, "Open my eyes that I may behold wondrous things from Your Law." We need the Holy Spirit to help us understand and apply the passages we read.

 

Put it on PAPER: Underline what stands out to you. Make notes. Record insights and take them along with you. Those will serve as reminders throughout the day and over the years, as you notice what the Lord brings to the surface.

Find a PARTNER: Whether it's your spouse, a friend, or a small group, reading God's Word is better together! Find someone to read the Bible with you and find time to talk about what you're learning. You will find it provides accountability and support as you go through this journey together.

Put it into PRACTICE: We aren't reading only for information but for life transformation. Be sure to ask, each time you engage with Scripture, how is God calling me to apply what I've learned to my life?
